About Me:
Working with clients of all ages, I help navigate the stressors that arise in everyday life. Using an integrative, person-centered approach, I empower my clients to identify obstacles and build skills to achieve their goals. My clients receive evidence-based strategies to decrease depression, manage stress and anxiety, boost their confidence and self-esteem, stabilize their mood, strengthen communication skills, and enhance school or work performance.
With a passion for animals, I adore my golden retrievers, Beau and Luke. Both are Certified Therapy Dogs who join me in sessions with clients who benefit from the calming presence of a dog. Pet therapy helps strengthen rapport between client and therapist and improve the ability to cope with anxiety, depression, injury, and illness.
Education:
B.A. in Criminology and Psychology, Indiana University of Pennsylvania
M.A. in Social Work, The University of Pittsburgh
More About Me:
My previous work experience includes community mental health, residential group homes, and emergency mental health. Originally from Pennsylvania and then Ohio, I recently relocated to Virginia with my husband and two lovable golden retrievers. As a family we enjoy volunteering at churches, nursing homes, and hospitals. I also enjoy reading, practicing mindfulness, attending fitness classes, and hiking.
