About Me:

Mercinda Witherspoon is an educator, counselor-in-training, and doctoral student dedicated to helping individuals reach their full potential through education, advocacy, and trauma-informed care. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Counseling Education and Supervision at Walden University and earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University in August 2025. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Fayetteville State University.
As a tenured educator in Washington, D.C., Mercinda has extensive experience working with students and families from diverse and underserved communities. Her work focuses on supporting adolescents and adults who have experienced trauma and require professional guidance to rebuild confidence, resilience, and emotional wellness. She is recognized for her strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as advanced proficiency in educational and training technologies.
Beyond her professional roles, Mercinda serves as a youth leader and church administrator and is actively involved in community outreach and service. She values holistic wellness and practices self-care through journaling, hiking, reading, painting, prayer, and spending time with family and close friends.

More About Me:

Mercinda has been a youth leader and served in an administrative role at my church. She has volunteered and coordinated community events in my hometown. She enjoys opportunities to practice self-care as much as possible. Some activities that she finds helpful in stressful times are journaling, hiking, reading, painting, completing puzzles, praying, and spending time with my family and close friends.

As a Resident in Counseling, Mercinda is practicing under the supervision of Melanie Davis, LPC.
