About Me:
After 23 years of teaching middle school history, I’ve embarked on a new chapter—pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Wake Forest University. My journey from the classroom to the counseling space is rooted in a deep desire to support adolescents and adults as they navigate the challenges of an ever-changing world.
With a strong foundation in education and a wealth of life experience, I specialize in meeting people where they are, offering a compassionate, creative, and collaborative approach to growth and healing. Life has taught me that growth is rarely linear, and that’s what makes it beautiful. I’m passionate about walking with others on their journey toward healing, clarity, and authenticity—with empathy, humor, and heart.
Education:
Master of Arts, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Wake Forest University, expected August 2026
Bachelor of Arts, History and Psychology, Lawrence University, June 2000
Affiliations:
Chi Sigma Iota, Pi Alpha Chapter, 2025-present
More About Me:
I’m a lifelong learner, a lover of stories—both historical and personal—and someone who finds deep meaning in connection. Originally from Wisconsin, I’ve called Northern Virginia home for the past 18 years. I’m married and the proud mom of two boys who keep me busy (and entertained) with their love of baseball. Much of my free time is spent at their games, cheering them on from the sidelines and being the team DJ.
When we get the chance, my family and I love traveling—especially to beach destinations where we can unwind and soak up the sun.
As a Graduate Counseling Intern, I will practice under the supervision of Melanie Davis, LPC.
